Maroon Bells

The story goes that the man who first saw these peaks thought they looked like twin bells. When you get up close, the first one really does look like a handbell. Both peaks, Maroon Peak and North Maroon Peak, are over 14,000 ft. However, as beautiful as they are, they are dangerous. Many hikers hoping to add these peaks to their collection of 14ers have lost their life in the attempt. There is now a sign on the trail  reading “The Deadly Bells” with details about the climb. Naturally, we were satisfied climbing to Crater Lake.

After our climb, we went fishing and picture taking!

Three days here have gone by WAY too fast. I can’t get enough of the aspens, waterfalls, and sunsets.
