Jillian “Biggest Loser” takes on CrossFit

This made me smile. This WOD (Workout of the Day) is a common one for our little gym. We do a LOT of workouts that are AMRAP. (as many reps as possible) This one is very short because they only did 1 round. Multiple rounds are the prescribed workout.

But she was sucking wind after 1 round. And she is in GREAT shape.

People knock crossfit because some of their workouts are less than the standard “30 minutes needed for minimum fitness”. That’s what makes CF so good. Your intensity is 90% for short periods of time, brief rests (sometimes), then more high intensity. In running/cardio, we often hear that High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) is more effective than long periods of the same intensity. CF is nothing but HITT and serious heavy weight.

I love the video! I have some of Jillian's workout tapes at home and it does my heart good to see her have to really work at something. :) I would love to do crossfit, but don't have a gym close enough to me. So sad

I hate them. I really dislike several things we do. But somehow, I leave class feeling good. Maybe because I survived to whine...I mean tell about it?

A few years ago, I did an outdoor boot camp that was crossfit based. We didn't do the weight stuff, but we did a lot of box jumps!
