The Market opened a couple of weeks ago but this is my first chance to get to Birmingham. I’m so glad I came out today! It was beautiful weather and the place was hopping!
This is my 5th year making bi-monthly trips to Pepper Place for the spring, summer, and fall. It has changed a lot over the years. Here are a few observations:
- HUGE emphasis on organic and non-GMO. Those farmers who practice organic gardening are heavily promoting that and I’m so glad they are.
- Prices are comparable, organic or not. There wasn’t much difference from farmer to farmer.
- Dogs everywhere. I think more people come to show off their dogs than buy food. By 10:00am it was beyond ridiculous. I saw more people walk away from this amazing market with NOTHING in their hand but a coffee cup and a leash. See and be seen in the dog world. It used to be cute. Now it’s ridiculous.
